Take The Train to Sleep Land – ASMR.
Imagine a relaxing rhythmic and soothing train journey that takes you on an ASMR experience travelling through open country to stops at city stations along the route. Imagine you are in a carriage of that train, hearing every nuance of sound as you drift peacefully into a deep sleep, as the world outside passes by.

The audio track with this black screen video has been meticulously mixed with hand picked realistic audio clips to create an 8 hour ASMR video for sleep, relaxation or focus. Every detailed sound clip has been sensitively chosen and mixed, not only of the train. ASMR white noise and weather sounds are subtly mixed into this detailed soundscape.

The Aim of this Audio: When creating this video for YouTube my goal was to make every hour have some difference in sound to make it less repetitive for listeners who listen longer. I attained maybe 3 hours of success, but I figured 3 hours would be long enough to get listers to sleep. However, in my enthusiasm, I extended the Train Journey soundscape to the full 8 hours to aid the conscious focus effect of the film, tweaking this, changing that in each hour of the train ride until I was happy. All transitions sit nicely in the audio mix. There are no disturbing or disjointed audio level changes. It does sound like a “journey” from start to end, with a working ASMR effect throughout.

Why a black screen?: The black screen after 4 minutes of video is an experiment. Having watched other black screen videos on YouTube and now knowing it helps to aid focus when using my computer without distractions from the video, but still hearing the sound, if I am right about the notion that black screen videos help people focus, then it should get a few views.

Does this video work?: I believe that people will find it useful to relax, climb down, focus on a project or fall into a deep sleep. I think it will help to lessen anxiety or stress. It will help in performing tasks such as writing, doing a spreadsheet or making images, or making videos like this one. It’s great in the back ground. In my own experience it seems to aid focus in creativity. I also tried it last night for sleep and it worked. I think within 7 minutes. I don’t know for sure because I drifted into a pleasant sleep!

What is unique about this video in my collection? There are a lot of ASMR videos out there. For me personally the ones that work best are Rain, Storms, Lapping Sea Shores and Wind. They are noisy, robust, powerful in sound. Perhaps you have a favourite sound? Mention it in the comments below. But as I worked on creating this video, I noticed this audio is unlike any of those I usually aim to make. In comparison, this audio is gentle, relaxing, easy listening and aurally exciting on the ears. I felt the ASMR effect while editing the soundscape for this video and throughout the entire 8 hours of it listening back. At last I was getting close to the best ASMR sound in its genre.

It’s a slow train. No need to rush anywhere. In addition, aside from the video thumbnail, no AI was used to create this soundscape. Not even this video description. I deliberately wrote this description myself because I was becoming concerned that a desire for automation was taking away the uniquely human values of nuance, spontaneity and raw immediate feelings. The chase for keyword exposure in videos and AI generated descriptions to feed an algorithm somewhere doesn’t excite me.

Creating or hearing a sound that feels real, sounds real and aids sleep, relaxation and focus does excite me, and it is all in this video soundscape.

Enjoy.
Anthony
